Active Sessions
An Analyst or Admin seat allows one active session at a time. Signing in from a second device while the first session is still active brings up a prompt naming the session already running — the browser and operating system it is on, and its IP address — so you can tell whether it is yours before doing anything about it.
There are three ways out of that prompt:
- Sign in as Viewer signs you in read-only on the new device and leaves the first session exactly as it was.
- End other session signs the first session out and continues normally here.
- Cancel abandons the sign-in.
Whichever you pick survives the rest of the sign-in. Choosing viewer mode before a two-factor prompt or an SSO redirect still lands you in viewer mode afterwards.
What viewer mode allows
In viewer mode the interface behaves as a Viewer's throughout, whatever your real role is: dashboards are readable, and Settings, Admin and the report editor are not available. Nothing is altered about your account — the next ordinary sign-in is an Analyst or Admin session again.
This is the point of the mode. Reading a dashboard from a phone or a second laptop no longer costs you the editor session you left open on the first one.
Plans that allow more than one session
The one-session rule comes from your plan. Where a plan allows multiple simultaneous sessions, signing in elsewhere simply works and no prompt appears.
Viewer seats are not restricted this way by default, so a Viewer can normally be signed in on several devices at once.
