A dashboard is an aggregation of reports on an interactive grid. Dashboards are used to group analytics into different areas (e.g. sales, operations, etc.). The interactivity of a dashboard lets users adjust what the dashboard shows via interactive parameters and drill-downs. Furthermore, dashboards can be shared both inside and outside your organization while the timeliness of the data shown is controlled by caching and refreshing. Dashboards can be further organized using Favorites and Dashboard Groups. On the dashboard overview page, the dashboards are shown either as tiles with a thumbnail:
or as simple boxes in a list:
The dashboard thumbnail is updated automatically every day for dashboards that have been accessed. The thumbnail can also be updated manually in the "Thumbnail" tab of the dashboard settings. Here you can also turn off the thumbnail completely in case it is not desirable to have the dashboard represented using a thumbnail - a placeholder image will be used instead.
