Dashboard Groups
As the number of dashboards in your organization grows, finding the right one becomes harder. Dashboard groups solve this by organizing dashboards into named collections — for example, by team ("Sales", "Engineering"), by purpose ("Executive KPIs", "Operational"), or by project.
A single dashboard can belong to multiple groups, so groups work like tags rather than folders. Groups do not affect access permissions — those are managed at the dashboard sharing level.
Built-in Groups
Three groups are built in:
- Favorites -- Dashboards the current user has marked as a favorite. Only shown if the user has at least one favorite.
- Samples -- The Cluvio sample dashboards. Can be hidden via sample group actions.
- All -- Every dashboard the user has access to.
- A single dashboard can belong to multiple groups.
- Deleting a group does not delete the dashboards in it.
- Access permissions are managed at the dashboard level -- groups do not affect permissions.
- Viewers only see groups that contain at least one dashboard they can access. A viewer will never see an empty group.
Favorite Dashboards
The Favorites group lets each user maintain a personal set of frequently used dashboards.
When a user has at least one favorite, the Favorites group is selected by default after login. Otherwise, the last-accessed group is shown.
Toggle a dashboard's favorite status using the star icon on the dashboard tile in the overview page.
Group Actions
Group actions are available from the dropdown menu on the right side of the groups bar. The menu shows actions that apply to all groups as well as actions specific to the currently selected group.
Create Group
Only admins and analysts can create and edit dashboard groups.
Select Create Group from the dropdown menu. The dialog lets you set a group name, optional description, and select which dashboards to include. Choose Shared to make the group visible to other users; otherwise it remains a personal group visible only to you.
Edit Group
Select Edit from the dropdown to modify the group's name, description, or dashboard membership.
You can also add or remove a dashboard from groups via the dashboard actions.
Display for All Users
By default, a newly created group is visible only to its creator. To share it with other users, select Display for all users from the dropdown.
A shared group is visible to:
- All analysts
- All viewers who have access to at least one dashboard in the group
To revert, select Display only for me.
Reorder Groups
Select Reorder Groups to rearrange the group order using drag and drop.
Remove Group
Select Remove Group to delete a group. The dashboards in the group are not deleted.
Sample Group Actions
The Samples group has its own set of actions that control the visibility of sample dashboards without deleting them.
- Hide Samples for Viewers -- Makes sample dashboards visible only to analysts.
- Hide Samples for Everyone -- Hides sample dashboards for all users.
If hidden, you can restore visibility at any time from the same dropdown.
